Simplified DFT system uses a standpipe to maintain nutrient solution level. Nutrient solution is pumped up to a top pipe, where it fills the pipe up to the level of a standpipe. Then, excess solution above the standpipe level flows into the next pipe which also fills to a standpipe level. This process repeats until excess nutrient solution flows form the last pipe into the reservoir tank. The diagram was created with Biorender.com
